Union Conference of the European Region

7th Union European Conference on Lung Health

The 7th Union Conference of the European Region will take place 22-24 June 2016 in Bratislava, Slovakia.

At the conference in Bratislava, KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation consultants will give several presentations, including the following:

Treatment options: something old, something new
Maria Idrissova will give a presentation about treatment options in KNCV/Challenge TB countries in line with the policy implementation package needed for the introduction of new TB drugs and drug regimens*.

Patient safety: KNCV approach in WHO EURO region (CAR countries)
Maria Idrissova will give a presentation on the current KNCV patient safety approach in the Central Asian region (CAR). The patient-oriented models developed in the previous USAID/KNCV projects (TB CAP and TB CARE I) will be integrated in the current treatment strategy to address the patients’ safety and patients’ needs in the framework of new TB drugs and drug regimens’ implementation.

The KNCV approach: illustrative country examples:

  • Programmatic preparations for introduction. Monitoring and pharmacovigilance
  • Drug management

Merkinai Sulaimanova will describe the situation of drug management and how it is now changing in line with introduction of the QuanTB tool and new drugs and short MDR-TB treatment regimens*.
