The 49th Union World Conference on Lung Health in The Hague, Netherlands, will bring together researchers, global advocates, scientists, healthcare professionals, students and community members working on all aspects of lung health.
The conference theme Declaring Our Rights: Social and Political Solutions, highlights that to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) and achieve the health-related Sustainable Development Goals requires a coordinated public health response driven by the human rights of each individual.
TB is more tha a clinical condition. TB thrives where rights do not. People everywhere, no matter who they are or where they live, have the right to prevention, treatment and care for TB and non-communicable lung disease.
As the city of peace and justice, The Hague provides a unique environment to link science, human rights and policy in the design of public health responses.
Hosted by KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation and the city of The Hague, the conference will provide a platform for the latest science and for policy discussions that inform public health measures grounded in human rights.
