KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation has a leading role in TB control for 115 years.
But what is it that we do?
KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation was established in 1903 as the umbrella organization of all Dutch organizations involved in tuberculosis control. Most of them civil society initiatives! KNCV was one of the founding members of the UNION as well as the STOP TB Partnership. During the 115 years of its existence KNCV has played a crucial role in eliminating TB in the Netherlands and supporting high prevalence countries to prepare for the same.
Whereas the Netherlands has reached pre-elimination, with eight out of ten TB patients foreign-born, TB remains the deadliest infectious disease worldwide, with almost 5000 deaths per day. This is unacceptable: TB is preventable and curable!
A Story of Hope
KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation’s goal is to assist in ending the global TB epidemic through country level capacity building and introduction of new drugs and technologies, in the context of patient friendly interventions. KNCV has been fundamental in design, implementation and evaluation of a watertight TB control system in the Netherlands that puts patients and their family’s needs at the heart of the matter. We build on these experiences to do exactly that in the rest of the world!
In the countries where we are active, we work closely with local governments and health and community care groups to ensure the implementation of tailor made state of the art methods which ensure optimal patient care. And that works!
