KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the fight against tuberculosis (TB). KNCV is the lead partner in Challenge TB, the new USAID-funded 5-year global program. We lead an international consortium comprising eight partner organizations in addition to KNCV: ATS, FHI 360, IRD, JATA, MSH, PATH, The Union, and WHO. In Ethiopia, Challenge TB is being implemented by KNCV as a lead and MSH and WHO as a collaborating partner. The strategic objectives of Challenge TB are to improve access to patient care, to prevent transmission and disease progression, and to strengthen TB platforms.
Challenge TB-Ethiopia operates from a central office in Addis Ababa and two regional offices, one in Tigray and one in SNNPR. The project will expand to more regions in the near future.
KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is recruiting candidates for the position of Zonal TB Adviser for its Challenge TB program in Ethiopia.
Purpose of the position
The Zonal TB Adviser provides technical support and advice to at least two Zonal Health Departments (ZHD), Woreda Health Offices (WoHO), health facilities and health posts. This will be done in close collaboration with the regional Technical coordinator and regional TB Advisor. The position holder works closely with ZHDs and will be located in the same offices with the Zonal TB focal person of ZHD . The position holder represents Challenge TB in Zonal and Woreda technical meetings. The Zonal TB Advisor coordinates trainings for the Zones, conduct supervisions, and organizes review meetings for Woredas, health facilities and health posts. The position holder participates in planning, supportive supervisions, monitoring and evaluation of the project in his assigned zone. The Challenge TB Zonal team consists of the Zonal TB Adviser and Zonal lab officer. The Zonal TB Adviser has a functional leading role in TB, MDR TB and TB/HIV activities in the Zones.
Who are we looking for?
You have a bachelor in nursing/Health officer and MPH degree. At least five years of work experience in clinical medicine as a nurse/health officer/physician. At least three years of experience in TB and HIV. You have knowledge of TB DOTS, PMDT and TB/HIV programs, practical TB and TB/HIV experience specifically in the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of tuberculosis. You have experience in implementing local systems for improving case detection and quality of care. Knowledge of and experience in TB and TB/HIV capacity building, monitoring and supervision in Ethiopia. Demonstrated success in achieving results leading TB and TB/HIV experiences at local or HF level. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and fluency in Tigrigna is required for the Tigray Region. You have experience working with donors, preferably with USAID-funded projects. You are able to travel frequently.
