KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is looking for an inspiring Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization. S(he) will carry statutory responsibility, will lead the management team and will report directly to the Board of Trustees. Currently KNCV employs 140 staff worldwide.
KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international center of expertise for TB control that promotes effective, efficient, innovative and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context. KNCV is an organization of passionate TB professionals, including doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses and epidemiologists. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the world’s leading expert tuberculosis organization based in The Hague, The Netherlands.
Besides fulfilling the role of KNCV’s primary representative ‘as the face of the organization’, the ED will further promote and develop the KNCV brand within the national and international networks. The ED will provide thought leadership in public health and TB elimination and bring experience in change management from previous roles. The ED seeks to nurture an entrepreneurial mindset within KNCV and to inspire innovative thinking.
The ED builds and maintains strong national and international coalitions and partnerships and is skilled in navigating and influencing the international stakeholder and funding environment. The Executive Director is a natural and successful networker and is responsible to attract and expand KNCV’s base of funders so as to secure more and diverse funding.
Lead and further develop the dedicated and highly qualified staff members within the organization and the global KNCV network to implement the strategic plans and achieve the organization’s strategic goals;
Identify social, political, scientific and technological trends that are relevant to TB elimination and to KNCV as an organization and incorporate these into the longer-term vision. Where necessary formulate new strategies and build support both inside and outside KNCV;
Ensure KNCV continues to be a global prime source of technical expertise and policy advice on TB elimination;
Ensure high level resource mobilization; identify market opportunities and create new resource mobilization initiatives; maintain a network of strategic funders and institutional donors;
Maintain a thriving global network of KNCV associated organizations; build national and international coalitions as well as building global partnerships; be the main representative of the organization at home and abroad, act as host and spokesperson;
Lobby support for the organization’s viewpoints and interests in an extremely complex and diverse international environment;
Oversee the organization’s budget and take appropriate steps in the event of potential deficits and/or surpluses;
Oversee and limit the financial and legal risks of KNCV branch offices and staff abroad.
Role Requirements and Behavioral Skills
• Proven success in a comparable leadership position in global health or science, working with diverse partners and professionals;
• Background in infectious diseases and public health, experience in the field of tuberculosis is desirable;
• Track record and experience in change management leadership;
• Experience in positioning and branding an organization to reach a wider target audience;
• Knowledge of business and public administration principles;
• Anticipatory and strategic thinker;
• Passionate about public health and evidence driven TB elimination;
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills in English, fluency in Dutch is considered an asset;
• Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation;
• Willingness to extensive travel;
• Ability to maintain high standards of ethics, integrity and professionalism; you can demonstrate agility, can do attitude, collaboration and accountability.
